PRESENT STATUS

• The distillation unit is presently not funtioning due

to non-issue of FTL & non- collection of gandhaki.

• JFMC members are unwilling to supply gandhaki @ Rs

70/ Kg to M/s AROMATICA.

• Some Agencies e.g M/s Sayantica, Ganga Trading Co

are purchasing @ Rs 120-130/Kg from them.

• M/s AROMATICA is unofficialy convinced with the

elevated rate- negotiation took place.

OPERATIONAL PROBLEMS

• Interrupted supply of electricity – sometimes no

electricity for 2-3 days in rainy season.

• Seepage of rain water in the unit through ceiling and

doors – may cause damage to machines.

• Scarcity of constant water supply.

PROPOSALS FOR IMPROVEMENT

• To increase Govt. royalty rate of gandhaki similar to

market rate: by Shri Birala Chakma, pr. Dephachhara JFMC

• Inclusion of JFMC members in the Governing body of the

distillation unit.

• Extraction of patchouli/ citronella in the off-season so

as to keep the unit functional all the yr round.

• Training needs for scientific & sustainable extraction of

Broomgrass/ Gandhaki etc.

• Need for artificial plantation so as to restock natural

plantations.

collection of broom grass.

• Raising of nursery for BG/ LC/ gandhaki.
• Interested JFMC member to raise broom grass

plantation in 5 ha area.

• Setting up of 1 distillation unit at Chhamanu similar

to Machhmara.

• Scientific and sustained extraction is not occuring as

the collectors are not trained: require training input.

• JFMC members are willing to raise AR plantations.
• Test checked revolving fund position of some

JFMCs- Khumbarbutu, Milan.

• Realisation viz-a-viz record mantenance are found

alright.

• Rate imposed is not uniform e.g 2% for broomgrass,

Re 1/stick for umbrella stick etc.
