- Total Canadian Merchandise Exports to the US in 2017 = $414.5 Billion
- Total Merchandise trade between Canada, US and Mexico in 2017 = nearly $1.1 Trillion
- Total trade between US and Canada has more than doubled since the original NAFTA agreement
- Total trade between Canada and Mexico has grown more than 9 fold in the same time period
- From the office of the United States Trade Representative: “Canada is currently our 2nd largest goods
trading partner with $618.6 billion in total (two way) goods trade during 2018”
PERMITS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS NEEDED
- CFIA Approval and License (AAFC - Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada is now part
- f CFIA)
- PCP - Preventive Controls Plan in Place
- IOR – IMPORTER OF RECORD # FILED WITH US CBP DHS
- FDA - U.S. Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, importers of food products
intended for introduction into U.S. commerce are responsible for ensuring the products are safe, sanitary & labeled according to U.S. requirements.
- FSVP – USA Equivalent to our CFIA – You are Exempt if you are Exporting: Fish
and Fishery Products • Juice • Food for research or evaluation • Certain alcoholic beverages, or certain ingredients for use in alcoholic beverages • Certain meat, poultry, and egg products regulated by USDA • Food for personal consumption
CFIA & SFCA COMPLIANCE & CERTIFICATIONS
CFIA CERTIFICATIONS COMPLIANCE WITH CFIA - DAWN’S SEAFOOD MARKET INC. MUST BE INSPECTED BY THE CFIA AND/OR THE CBSA ACCORDING TO THE: SFCA - SAFE FOOD FOR CANADIANS ACT – ONCE APPROVED, LICENCE WILL BE GRANTED.
FISHERIES AND CATCH CERTIFICATES
- Each Company Exporting Fish & Seafood requires registration on
the Fisheries Certificate System FCS and a Catch Certificate.
- Canada's Catch Certification Program was created in response to
the European Union’s IUU - Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated fishing regulation implemented January 1, 2010. It requires that fish exports to the EU are accompanied by a catch certificate issued in the country of origin. This program has expanded to Chile, Japan and the Ukraine.
