Dear Professor Miller, My name is Juan Diaz and I am a second year Bonner Scholar. As a required part of the Bonner Program, I am seeking to complete a

  • capstone. My capstone project should address a need that my Bonner Partner has, allowing me to do some work that builds

community capacity while applying my learning. From a needs assessment that I conducted last semester, my Bonner site, the Farmer’s Market, is looking to expand its client base. For my capstone project, the idea of helping the Farmer’s Market implement a mobile market program has emerged. This will allow me to apply my studies of Economics, Business, and Social Enterprise. I need the support of a strong faculty advisor. I learned a lot from your course on food security that I hope to apply in this project. I believe that you could serve as a positive influencer with your knowledge and skills on the topic. If you are available and willing to dedicate your time as a capstone advisor, your main responsibilities would include directing me to further scholarship to enhance my knowledge on the subject and to advise the implementation of the project, including meeting with me throughout the project to ensure that I efficiently utilize academic content to meet the identified need in the community I anticipate to begin working on my capstone project my senior fall semester and during this time, I would hope we could meet every few weeks for about an hour to discuss my

  • progress. I believe that I could learn a lot from you so I hope that you'll consider serving as an advisor for my capstone project. If you

have any further questions, comments, or concerns, I would be more than happy to meet with you during office hours to discuss my ideas more thoroughly. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your time, Juan Diaz
