State Update: Crisis Standards of Care

  • After careful deliberations with FHA's Quality and Patient Safety

and Workforce Committees, the FHA Board voted to support the Florida Bioethics Network’s Ethics Guidelines for Crisis Standards of Care

  • Board also approved advocating for executive order to provide

limited immunity to health care providers in connection with their response to the COVID-19 crisis

  • FHA to host clinical webinar on Tuesday, April 21 at 10 a.m. ET

State Update: Florida Department of Health Issues Emergency Rule No. 64DER20-26

Per April 13th Department of Health emergency rule, all COVID-19 lab results (positive and negative) should be reported immediately via electronic laboratory reporting, including screening tests

State Update: AHCA Data Reporting

  • In March, Vice President Pence sent a request asking

hospitals to report multiple data points.

– Hospital laboratory testing capability reported daily to FEMA – Hospital bed capacity reported daily to the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network

  • On April 15, AHCA submitted a request to FEMA to seeking

authority to submit required COVID-19 laboratory and hospital capacity data through the Emergency Status System (ESS) on behalf of Florida’s hospitals.

  • This change follows FHA’s advocacy for streamlining state

and federal COVID-19 reporting requirements for providers.
