Supervisory Board

  • Dr. Jörg Mittelsten Scheid, a

member of the Vorwerk owner family, headed the company from 1966 through 2005. He went on to chair the Supervisory Board in 2006 and retained that office through 2012 before assuming his present office of Honorary Chairman. Rainer Baule has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Vorwerk &

  • Co. KG since January 2013 and

came to the post straight from that

first joined the Vorwerk Supervisory Board in May 2011.

Owner family

Carl (photo) and Adolf Vorwerk found the original company, Barmer Teppichfabrik Vorwerk & Co, in Wuppertal in 1883. August Mittelsten Scheid, Carl Vorwerk’s son-in-law, becomes sole Managing Partner in 1907. Werner Mittelsten Scheid introduces direct sales in 1930.

Mittelsten Scheid take charge of the company in 1943.

  • Dr. Jörg Mittelsten Scheid joined the

Executive Board in 1966 and was appointed Managing Partner in 1969, which post he held until 2005. From 2006 until the end of 2012, he chaired the Supervisory Board, on which he continues to sit today as a member and as Honorary Chairman.

Social Committment to SOS Children’s Villages

  • The Vorwerk family-owned company set up

the Vorwerk Family Fund to raise money for SOS Children’s Villages.
