CORK PREMIUM WENT FROM € 258K TO € 295K BACK TO  € 253K BETWEEN 2007/2009.  GAA POLICY TO BE FOLLOWED RE USE OF PREMISES. PENALTIES WILL FOLLOW BREACHES.  LEASED PREMISES- BE CAREFUL!  USE OF GYMS MUST BE REGULATED.  HIRE OF FACILITIES- KNOW THE RULES.  NO COVER FOR ROAD EVENTS (UNDER REVIEW!)

Cost of 2. claim is € 6k. Plaintiff injured when bar stool collapsed 3. underneath him. Case settled at € 46k. Plaintiffs injured by falling hatch door at club 4. premises. Settled for € 16,000. 12 year old girl fell off sports equipment at club 5. grounds breaking her arm. Claim settled for € 22k Claimant fell on slippery floor while exiting club 6. toilets. No cleaning system in place. Settled for € 27k.

Plaintiff fell on defective stairs. Claim shared 2. between GAA & festival committee at € 125k. Plaintiff (committee member) sued GAA club after 3. falling over 2 girls sitting on a step. Not a paid up member at the time. Claim cost over € 40k to settle. Plaintiff (minor) lost tip of finger on wire whilst pitch 4. was being used by local national school. Reserve of € 225K. GAA will be found part liable. Plaintiff broke ankle on wet floor during TP dance at 5. GAA club. Settled for € 74,000.

Events requested by Clubs Community Games, Clubs using facilities for sports, Summer Camps Part use as functioning schools, car parks, community centres, Mobile Phone Masts, Bottle Banks, Private Apartments for Renting Use by Health Boards and other Government Departments or by other “ local ” Third Parties, Weight Watchers, Scouts, Bridge Club, Prayer Groups, Soccer/Rugby/Badminton Clubs. 21st Birthday Parties, Weddings, Funerals Use of Third Party Premises Construction - Self Build Programmes, Poc Fadas/Scór/ Féile na nGael/ Féile Peile na nOg/Cumann na mBun Scoil All Ireland Homecoming Parades inc use of flatbed trailers as stages

  11. CORK CLUB NIGHT 2009 BLOCK HIRERS POLICY NON GAA CLAIMS NOW TO BE DEALT WITH UNDER NEW SEPARATE POLICY. CLUB RESPONSIBLE FOR FIRST € 1,500 EACH AND EVERY SUCH CLAIM. CLUBS WITH FACILITIES FOR HIRE WILL GET A SEPARATE CHARGE FOR THIS. EVIDENCE OF INSURANCE WILL STILL BE NEEDED FOR COMMERCIAL HIRERS SUCH AS AEROBICS, DANCING, ETC. LIST OF PROBLEM ITEMS AS BEFORE. E.G. LA na gCLUB.

  12. CORK CLUB NIGHT 2009 PLAYERS INJURY SCHEME TARGET INCOME € 9.5M. TOOK IN € 8.8M TO JUST BREAK EVEN. CHALLENGE GAMES- PERMIT NEEDED 48 HRS IN ADVANCE BY E-MAIL TO COUNTY SEC. COUNTY BOARD REFS NEEDED FROM MINOR UP FOR SUCH GAMES. CHANGE IN REGISTRATION SYSTEM PROPOSED. RISE IN DENTAL INJURIES IS ALSO A CONCERN.

  13. CORK CLUB NIGHT 2009 PLAYERS INJURY SCHEME ONLY APPROVED PHYSIOS/PHYSICAL THERAPISTS. MUST BE MEDICALLY PRESCRIBED. TAKE UP BY SCHOOLS & COLLEGES OF CONCERN. 60 DAY RULE HAVING AN IMPACT. FIRST 2 PAGES OF CLAIM FORM (www.gaa.ie). LATE NOTIFICATIONS WILL NOT BE DEALT WITH. GAA SCHEME TO BE USED AS LAST RESORT.

  14. CORK CLUB NIGHT 2009 PROPERTY INSURANCES DISASTROUS RUN SINCE AUGUST, IE OVER € 3M PAID AND O/S WHEN PREMIUM IS APPROX € 1M. FIRES € 2M+, FLOODS € 750K AND BREAK INS € 250K. LOSS RATIO GONE FROM 40% TO 130% OVER 5 YEAR PERIOD. RENEWAL HAS BEEN VERY DIFFICULT. FIRST HALF OF 2009 VERY POOR AGAIN. AGAIN, INDIVIDUAL RECORDS COME INTO PLAY OVER ROLLING 5 YEAR BASIS.

  15. CORK CLUB NIGHT 2009 PROPERTY INSURANCES RISE IN BREAK INS IS WORRYING. CLUBS WILL HAVE TO IMPROVE SECURITY WHERE NEEDED. TROPHIES NEED TO BE INSURED. CASH HANDLING SYSTEMS NEED TO IMPROVE. ONGOING MAINTENANCE ESSENTIAL. BE CAREFUL WITH BUILDING COVER MOWERS & TRACTORS ISSUE. € 4,000 EXCESS PER CLAIM.

PLAYERS INJURY SCHEME IS AT BREAK EVEN SO IT WILL BE TIGHTLY MONITORED IN 09. WE CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER PROPERTY YEAR LIKE 08 THIS YEAR. ITS NOT LOOKING GOOD! CLUBS AND COUNTIES MUST PROTECT OUR OWN!
