“Can I use community college courses to fulfill high school graduation requirements?”
- No -- All high school graduation requirements must be
completed at Mills or within SMUHSD
- Exception: CSM courses offered through SMUHSD
summer school can also count toward high school elective credits (but not CTE or VAPA credits)
FAQ: “Can I take a class to get ahead?”
- Concurrent enrollment is recommended for
enrichment only -- not for fulfilling prerequisites or getting ahead
- Our Math & Science Departments strongly
recommend that students take all core courses at Mills
- Community college courses (such as Geometry &
Chemistry) typically do not adequately prepare students for higher level math and science courses
