Example 1: Intercity Travel

Sandy

Sandy lives in Fond du Lac, and her niece and nephew live in Appleton. Once a month, Sandy needs to get from Fond du Lac to downtown Neenah to babysit. She would prefer not to use a car.

Example 1: Intercity Travel

Sandy

Starting in July, Sandy could use Amtrak Thruway Bus service to travel directly from Fond du Lac to downtown Appleton. Once in Appleton, Sandy could transfer directly to Valley Transit local routes to reach her final destination. Sandy is looking forward to her trip!

Example 2: Workforce Transportation

Wayne

Wayne lives in Oshkosh and recently got a job at Appleton International Airport. He was hired for the overnight shift, so he will need to travel outside normal transit operating hours. Wayne can carpool one-way, but needs additional transportation.

Example 2: Workforce Transportation

Wayne

Currently, Wayne could use the Valley Transit Connector service to travel

  • utside typical bus operating times.

To return to Oshkosh, Wayne would need to use GO Transit Route 10, which runs from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Expanded hours on Route 10 could help Wayne get to work.

Example 3: Access to Education

Omar

Omar lives in Harrison and was recently accepted into the University

  • f Wisconsin – Green Bay.

He wants to keep living at home, but can’t afford to commute 25 miles each way by car. If there were a bus and park-and-ride available, Omar would use transit.

Example 3: Access to Education

Omar

Starting in July, Amtrak will offer two daily roundtrips between Appleton and Green Bay. Unfortunately, these trips will arrive too late for Omar to take morning classes, and may cost $14-18 per trip. An affordable commuter bus service would help Omar reach his goals.

Example 4: Economic Development

Lisa

Lisa is a regional economic development official who recruits high-profile businesses to the I-41 Corridor. She is currently working with large, high-tech manufacturing companies that need efficient access to transportation and the ability to recruit talented employees.

Example 4: Economic Development

Lisa

Lisa knows that to attract and retain employers, Northeast Wisconsin needs to offer an efficient, integrated transportation system. A coordinated, regional approach to commuter bus service, combined with local facilities, connecting transit, and workforce transportation programs, could help the region compete.
