Program Structure

– Free program with open enrollment

– Capacity = 60 Buffalo high school aged girls

– 2 Counselors, 15:1 ratio – Thursdays, 5p-8p and offer van ride home – Summer pilot session:

– 11 weeks, 26 teens

– Winter session:

– Completed 9 weeks, 16 teens

– Teen Empowerment: Voice opinions to shape programming – recipes, guest speakers, field trips

  • 1. Take a small Ziploc bag and add 1 cup of milk, and 2 tablespoon (tbsp.) of honey. To your

preference, use 1 teaspoon (tsp.) of vanilla and/or crushed mint leaves. Seal bag, and remove as much air from the bag as you can. Now double bag it inside a similar -sized bag.

  • 2. Place 4 cups of cubed ice with 6 tablespoons of salt in a larger bag. Now, put the double

bag into the larger bag and seal it, getting rid of as much air as possible.

  • 3. Shake, shake, shake! After about 10 minutes, voilá, homemade ice cream!
  • 4. Add your toppings.

Makes 2 scoop in 15 minutes
