Community Education was established in the California Community College system for the specific purpose of offering additional educational opportunities to members of the local community other than for-credit instruction. Building robust and effective Community Services Education programs created the opportunity for colleges to address the needs of all members of a community through credit, non-credit and not for credit instruction.

  2. SMCCCD’s Community Education program served the educational needs of the San Mateo County community for many years, then in 2015 was rebranded Community, Continuing and Corporate Education (CCCE).

  3. CCCE Goals 2015-2020 (District Goal #4) Increase CCCE training and services to San Mateo County residents, families and businesses through increased lifelong learning and professional certifications for adults, expanded academic and fitness programming for youth, and customized workforce training for public/private sectors. Increase revenue-generating contract training for public/private sectors. Develop internationally-recognized, revenue-generating Intensive English Programs for students, educators, administrators and executives. Contribute to economic development of San Mateo County through collaborative partnerships with industry & workforce/economic dev. agencies. Increase credit-based enrollments through credit/not-for-credit hybrid programming. Create or expand revenue generating programs in collaboration with SMAC .

  4. Community Education provides short courses and professional certificate programs to enrich and grow the lives of members in the community.

  5. Corporate Education provides customized training solutions, workshops, seminars and executive coaching for employees.

  6. SMCCCD Human Resources CCCE developed a Professional Development Academy with HR Onsite professional development opportunities for staff Workshops offered at all 3 colleges Professional trainers New offerings every semester Appreciation by staff for opportunity
