Development of Dementia Services in Shetland
Before January 2010 – diagnosis of unspecific dementia by family doctors Some support from Social Care Services. Specialist assessments required a 400 mile round trip to Aberdeen

- Nurse led with clinical support via weekly video link
- Nurses assess and deliver diagnosis
- Nurses prescribe medication and reviews
- Nurse supports Social Care staff to manage
behavioural concerns
