  • As a clinical pharmacy practitioner (CPP) seeing patients in clinic,

you begin to ask:

  • What is the benefit/risks of duplicate therapy (i.e. 2 antidepressants)?
  • Which agent is the patient seeking the most benefit?
  • How should we cross-taper one of the antidepressants to simplify the

regimen?

  • What should we communicate with the PCP in regards to duplicate

therapy?

  • How does a patient’s medical comorbidities and other medications

affect/contribute to their current psychiatric state?

  • How can we either simply the regimen, choose less expensive but effective

agents, and/or investigate options for patient to be able to afford her medications (PAPs, drug discount cards, picking generics with similar mechanisms)?
