COMELEC AHWG M&S

 The AHWG M&S objective is to leverage the use of

simulation for operational applications for the benefit of the German and French armed forces, in

  • rder:

 to assist the military community in assessing and

adopting simulation in order to ease and improve current activities as well as to solve existing issues

 to help the armed forces to better express and refine

their requirements in demonstrating the possible use of simulation for these purposes

 to address military concerns when technology and

standards are mature enough to be deployed for

  • perational application domains

COMELEC AHWG M&S

 The AHWG M&S has to perform experimentations to

demonstrate the real benefits of the architectures and processes under assessment. Demonstrations to the military end-users are also required to capture collections of requirements and to drive the way ahead

 It addresses all relevant topics dealing with the operational

use of simulation :

 Simulation to simulation connection  C2 systems and simulation interoperability  Database generation  Validation and verification of simulation models  Modeling of operational tactics and procedures  Application domains such as decision support, mission rehearsal,

mission planning, training, after-action review

 Current statement: Explore and improve technical

possibilities for automated transfer of data between French an German information systems and simulation systems

 Current status:

 Focus on the usage of C-BML  Potential users are national troops as well as bilateral organisations

(French / German Brigade and EUROCORPS)

 Experimentations performed since 2005  Demonstration to French / German Brigade in January 2011  User confirmes the potential for improvements in future operations

distributed simulation capability to support UK/FR experimentation and training exercises

 The ultimate goal is to identify and document the requirements for a permanent

Anglo-French distributed experimentation, mission planning and rehearsal capability

 Operational Objective: To conduct experimentation and support military

training exercises through simulation to enhance UK/FR force interoperability and readiness

 Experimentation Objectives: To conduct visualisation and exploratory

experiments to evaluate UK/FR operational architectures and interoperability

 Simulation Objectives: To initiate a permanent simulation capability between

UK and France that allows distributed experimentation and training

BDI: Belief Desire Intention Intelligent Agents

Belief: agent has knowledge about relevant environmental states Desire: agent wants to reach a certain goal in environmental states Intent: agent performs an action to reach the goal Example: room thermostat Belief: temperature from sensor (eg. 19° C) Desire: required temperature (eg. 20° C) Intent: switch on heater JADEX implementation framework: Belief, Goal (Desire), Plan (Intent, action) Events are used between agents to trigger plans

MINISTÈRE DE LA DÉFENSE

Context-Based Reasoning (CxBR)

 CxBR is a method for modeling

tactical behavior

 Encapsulates behavior into

contexts

 CxBR defines a mission that is

represented by a hierarchy of contexts, and rules that define transitions between contexts
