- Institutions are expected to make a
good faith effort to distribute their Go Grant allocations in a manner that reaches students with the most financial need to bring their maximum financial need met with gift aid to 60% (zero GO Grant award if it would bring gift aid to over 60% of financial need.)
- Eligibility:
- Must be Louisiana Resident
- Must receive a Federal PELL Grant
- GO Grant Awards – Allowable
Amounts:
- Minimum Annual Award $300
- Maximum Annual Award $3,000
- Campuses allowed to set award amounts
within these allowable ranges
Possible Federal Loan Information
Student Loan Limits:
- 0-29 credit hours (freshman) = $5,500 annually
Types of Federal Student Loans:
- Subsidized – based on financial need ($3,500
annually)
- Unsubsidized – not based on financial need
($2,000 annually) Types of Federal Parent Loans:
- Parent PLUS – based on parent’s credit rating (can
borrow up to COA minus EFC).
- If Parent is denied PLUS loan – student is
eligible for an additional $4,000 annually in unsubsidized loans. IF FUNDS ARE STILL NEEDED AFTER FEDERAL LOANS, some students may look to Private loans which are generally more expensive than Federal student loans.
