Objectives

Context: The completion in 2016 of the regional portrait on residual materials management in First Nations communities revealed different challenges and needs in order to improve practices.  The project targets all First Nations Communities  There are four main activities to address the needs:

 Training  Technical support  Awareness raising  Toolbox

 The FNQLSDI offers support in those 4 fields

Components

 Ongoing assistance to help implement good RMM practices and support the needs of communities.  Consulting services based on needs or requests from communities for assistance with RMM projects (support collection activities, agreements with recyclers, establishment of eco-centres; offer

support material, the analysis of the current situation and the development of new RMM activities and practices).

 Visits to the communities are the best way to promote the preservation of good practices.

6

Technical support

Components

 A toolbox is built on a continuous basis using all documents generated in the course of a program, such as:

 Data follow-up tools (costs, tonnage of materials)  Awareness-raising tools (sorting guide, collection schedule, etc.)  Good practices guidelines  Etc.
