PLACE
Earth is peripherally located on the Local Arm of our Milky Way galaxy. A physical place beyond Earth is the Moon, a satellite of our planet. Through space and time and our interconnectedness with our planet as place, we create our legacy through tradition, culture, spirituality, the arts, research, science and teaching.

GROWING UP GREEK
Growing up with Greek parents, it was important to preserve tradition, language, and culture. My first exposure to the arts was in Greek pottery, embroidery, byzantine icons, music and dance.

Since my earliest years, I have been fascinated by pottery designs, the utilitarian function of a vessel, and mythological stories. The vessels of clay made of the very substance of our planet (earth, water, fire and air) throughout time have been like a vast book telling humanity’s story. Here, I tell my story.

MEMORIES
In my work, I recall my memories of visits to Greece in the village of my grandparents, the stories, the farm life, and objects that became meaningful to me. The Vessels of clay hold my memories.

Garden or found materials as tools, using the flame of a candle, adding texture with embroidery, hay, nest, conte crayon, pastel, ink and watercolor was a process in markmaking.
