What is the Choice Neighborhood Grant?  $400,000 HUD Choice Neighborhood Planning Grant  For planning the revitalization of greater Five Points area, including: • Five Points commercial district • Greater Duffyfield community • Walt Bellamy community • Public housing at Trent Court & Craven Terrace

Key Elements of Choice Neighborhood:  Two year planning process  End product is Transformation Plan  Comprehensive plan focused on three areas: • Neighborhood – jobs, safety, infrastructure • People – education, health, support services • Housing – public and private

Why Is This Program Different?  One of only nine cities nationwide  Size of grant  Focus on entire neighborhood, not just housing  Ability to compete for implementation grant  Community-driven plan
