What is the Personal Project? ● Required piece of coursework 1500-3500 words, plus 10 page appendices ● Unique to the personal interest of the student ● Develop student ATL skills ● DP bridge ● Inspire them to connect their passions to the real world with a clear outcome ● Must challenge the students ● Work towards exhibiting the product and process to the public ● Write the report ● Whole process is an independent undertaking self-managed. No timetabled lessons. Examples: ● Personal history and genealogy exploration ● Photography exhibition ● Cycle Singapore - physical challenge ● Design and Engineer

  4. Personal Project Report - The breakdown The Personal Project Report is split into distinct sections. Students will work through these and be assessed for each criteria. Criterion A - Identify goal, global context, prior Investigating knowledge, research Criterion B - Develop success criteria, action plan steps Planning to achieve goal, demonstrate self-management Criterion C - Taking Construct product/service, design and Action resource your exhibition, run exhibition Criterion D - Reflection on new knowledge and Reflecting experiences gained, evaluation of how this project has developed you as an IB learner

What will my son/daughter need to do be successful in this project? ● Self-managed ● Organised ● Communicate - with supervisors and public ● Work consistently in their own time ● Have a clear action plan to manage their work flow ● Attend catch up sessions at lunch, or work on this in Academic Support ● ATL skills emphasises - organisation, communication, time management and research

  6. What can I do to support my son/daughter through this process? ● Communicate - progress checks, overview of goal ● Be aware of deadlines ● Independent project - so give them space in the process

  14. How are we preparing for eAssessments? 1. Semester exams mimick the style of questions and testing conditions of the eAssessment. 2. The eportfolio subject teachers use the specimen unit planners to prepare the curriculum. 3. The skills and command terms in the the exam are taught and reinforced in classes. 4.   20. Mathematics Each assessment will be split into three tasks, each of which have a suggested time around 33 minutes. Total time allocated to the test is 100 minutes. Students enrolled in extended and standard will sit for the standard e-assessment May exams.   22. Science MYP sciences on-screen examinations are aligned with understanding and skills that prepare students for high levels of achievement in IB Diploma Programme courses in sciences. On-screen examinations are formal external examinations, and are available in biology, chemistry, physics and integrated sciences. Topics explored in MYP sciences on-screen examinations include: atomic structure and bonding, cells, cycles, electromagnetism, evolution, interactions between organisms, forces, states and properties of matter, metabolism, organisms, and waves. Interdisciplinary The interdisciplinary learning on-screen examination is based around an exploration of the global context chosen for each assessment session through disciplinary and interdisciplinary lenses of two of the following subject groups: language and literature, individuals and societies, science, mathematics .   28. ARTS-ePortfolio ● November 1st-a partially completed unit planner is released. In 2017 the Unit name was “Art for a purpose (and not for its own sake.)” ● A list of stimuli is given also: Music structured the unit around the theme of the social and cultural impact of Rap music; Drama took the theme of war creating a show called “Voices of Violence”; and Art students engaged in projects around Art through the ages engaging in projects as diverse as Da Vinci, Bio Art and Drones! ARTS-ePortfolio tasks ● Task 1 Presentation: research into a theorist and piece of art (5 mins or 10 pages) ● Task 2 Proposal: Arts Process Journal entries exploring the topic (3 mins or 6 pages) ● Task 3 Process/Product: three recorded examples (audio, video, prints) of work at beginning, middle, end of unit showing progress (3 mins or 6 pages) ● Task 4 Commentary: 4 mins or 8 pages/6 images INSPIRE • EDUCATE • ENLIGHTEN

  30. Important MYP results Internal: Semester grades (year 10-13) are used for School transcript, Chatsworth high school diploma and university applications. External: MYP eAssessment results are used for DP Placement at the start of Year 12. INSPIRE • EDUCATE • ENLIGHTEN
