  1. Chandavar is a village to the south-east of Kumta near Mallapur. Hosad and Konally are hamlets in the same neighborhood, in which are situated the ancestral homes of the Chandavarkar family. Hosad, which was another ancestral seat (from which one of the branches of the family moved to Mallapur), contains the family temple of Shri Santana Gopalkrishna, which was built more than 300 years ago. Subsequently the affairs of the temple were supervised by Late.Shri Prabhakar Chandavarkar of Mallapur till Late Shri Pandurang R. Chandavarkar took the reins. The Late.Shri Pandurang Chandavarkar got the temple renovated once again somewhere in the year 1979-1980 with the help of donations he collected, from various sources. He handed over the charge to Sri Vasant S.Chandavarkar since 1983 and that continues till date as he is also the President of the Trust that was created to handle the affairs of the temple. The local Hallaki Gowda and others hold the deity in high esteem they perform bhajans, poojas, special poojas etc. in the temple environs.

  2. Year 2005 turned out to be a glorious year in the history of the Lord Santan Gopalkrishna. A new temple has been built on the very ground it always occupied and also a kitchen with dining hall for about 60 persons at a time and a house for the Archak and a guest house for visitors and also a cowshed have been newly built. An area of about 12000 Sq. Ft. surrounded by the temple has been laid with interlock pavement bricks. The temple has become a seat of divinity and school children visit it during their field trips. Many people have paid their obeisance to the lord by coming to the temple.

  3. Prathistha Ceremonies: The Prathistha ceremonies were held from 16th February 2005 to 20th February 2005 which was auspiciously conducted by ved Shri.
