Personal Impact of this Project
- I have a 22 year old son with Down Syndrome.
- He required extensive school-based and privately funded speech
and language therapy services since very early childhood.
- We have been very fortunate to have worked with therapists that
encouraged our involvement as parents.
- They recognized the importance of continuation of care in the
home, since therapy does not just end at the end of a session.
- I had a very positive interdisciplinary experience working on this
project with SLPs.
- I am able to discuss the benefits of parent-provider collaboration
with other parents in my parent support/advocacy work.
