Bluestone Resource Book

  • Available at http://www.calpine.com/bluestonewind
  • The document was last revised April 19, 2019
  • Shows several “Visual Simulations”
  • Prior to the last revision

– Many of the simulations stated they would only be visible by “locals” – Now it reads visible to “locals and tourists”. Who else is there? – The turbines appear smaller now in the simulations – Some turbines have been removed from views, while still in plan

Viewpoint 102

  • Marsh Pond State Forest, nearest turbine 1.6 miles
  • Intersection of Bryce Road and Marsh Pond Road
  • A lot of weekend traffic from campers, kayakers, fishermen
  • Locals use the roads to walk, run, bicycle
  • During the week there is very little traffic on the road
  • Currently it is silent except for birds as one stands next to

the pond

Why these revisions?

  • Why were turbines removed from the photos?

– “The 2018 simulation depicts nine turbines rising prominently

above the middle ground tree line.” ~ Bluestone Resource Book

– Only 5 are visible, were turbines removed from the project? No.

  • Why are the turbines suddenly smaller?

– Have they decided not to use the 700’ towers? No.

  • This revision is solely to present a less obtrusive view.

Why the limited number of views?

  • Limited views lessen perceived impact
  • Views from secluded places, like Marsh Pond, give the

perception that only a few people will be impacted

– Remember, this view is 1.6 miles from the nearest turbine

  • Every single person in the town should be given one of

these simulations from their vantage point

Just how far IS 700 feet?

T38

  • Proposed on the George Merich property on the Gill Road.
  • It currently is the closest turbine to my home
  • It sits on top of a 500’ hill overlooking my property
  • I did not sign a good neighbor agreement

  • Proposed in the path of the 1998 tornado
  • Proposed near a person with a cardiac condition
  • Visible to every resident of Farnham Road
