What is the Best Practice Certification Scheme?

  • Voluntary certification scheme for AD plants, focussing on:
  • Environmental protection
  • Health and safety
  • Operational performance
  • Will be inclusive for the different types and sizes of AD plants.
  • Sets out industry best practice as defined through industry engagement.
  • Will allow plant operators to have their plant assessed against the best practice criteria and

have potential areas for improvement identified.

Pilot – summer 2017

Desired outcomes:

  • Identify any unforeseen issues with the scheme criteria or scheme rules.
  • Understand the differences in approach at different types of AD plant.
  • Understand the time requirements (for auditor and the operator).
  • Learning experience for all involved.
  • Ultimately, give confidence to proceed to scheme launch in December.
