LETTER FROM MoDOT DATED MONDAY MAY 21, 2018

We have reviewed the traffic study associated with the development referenced in the Facebook post. The projected number of trips from the development falls well within the acceptable range of future traffic at the I-49 interchanges at 155th St and 163rd St. The added traffic from the development will not cause severe congestion at these interchanges. The new interchange at I-49 and 155th was designed to handle current and future traffic volumes. This includes traffic from the development which may generate trips that use the largest trucks on the road today. We’ve learned a lot from designing and building roundabouts and diverging diamond

  • interchanges. We’ve applied that knowledge to the I-49 and 155th St. interchange. For example, the roundabout is large, the signing is

clear, the turning radii are adequate, and the pavement marking is well-defined. Regarding I-49, we do not have the funding in place to add additional lanes. However, we have spent some time and effort into evaluating a possible project to add lanes from 155th to N. Cass Pkwy. We recognize the need, and have a good estimate of this improvement should funding become available. Please let me know if you have any questions or need anything else. Thanks, Matt Killion, P.E. SOUND STUDY

  • Analyze the anticipated noise

levels at the residential property line due to onsite truck activity using Federal and State accepted modeling methods

  • The effect of the berm on the

sound level was verified by actual field testing and confirmed a reduction of 5 dBA by using the berm to break the line of sight

  • Based on the analysis using

industry approved standards, it was determined that the noise generated by the site would be mitigated by the combination of proposed berms on site and the proposed setback distance from the property line

  • Noise levels are not anticipated to

exceed 55 dBA at the property line

  • n the north and east sides of the

site
