  3. Reading Foundational Skills Students should be able to: ● Correctly identify and name all uppercase and lowercase letters of the alphabet. ● Follow words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page. ● Count, pronounce, and blend syllables in spoken words. ● Recognize rhyming words

  4. Reading Foundational Skills Students should be able to: ● Read high frequency words by sight (e.g. the, at, it, is, are). ● Identify the sounds of each letter in a word. ● Distinguish between long vowel and short vowel sounds. ● Know how the rearrangement of letters in a word changes the pronunciation.

  5. Reading Comprehension With support, students should be able to: ● Retell story events. ● Identify the characters, the setting, and major events in a story. ● Compare and contrast the experiences of characters in a story. ● Identify the main idea of a text. ● Identify the role of the author and the illustrator in a text.

  6. Reading Level ● Alphabetized System ● Level C at the middle of the year ● Level D at the end of the year

  7. Writing Students should be able to use drawings, dictations, and writings to: ● Tell about the events in a story in the order in which they happened. ● Name a topic and provide information about that topic. ● Provide an opinion about a topic or book.

  8. Math Students should be able to: ● Count to 100 by ones and tens. ● Write numbers from 0 to 20. ● Compare two numbers between 1 and 20. ● Make combinations of 10. ● Solve addition and subtraction word problems within 10 (5+3=? 5+?=8).

  9. Math Students should be able to: ● Identify and describe squares, triangles, rectangles, cubes, cones, spheres, and cylinders. ● Identify whether shapes are flat or solid. ● Compare and contrast shapes. ● Combine shapes together to form new shapes.
