Slotting

What is slotting?

Slotting is the process of analysing and adjusting the right placement of the Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) in the warehouse, in order to reduce labour costs and improve throughput. The frequency zone for each SKU is a central attribute on which the concept of “right placement” is based.

Slotting in Astro WMS

The new slotting module in Astro WMS takes advantage of the richness of data stored in the WMS, visualizes deviations between the assigned zone and the actual frequency statistics and provides decision support for adjusting the placement for the SKUs.

How does it work?

Define criteria for each zone

Given location visit stats, assign zone to each SKU.

E.g. SKUs repr. top 80 % of the visits > A, SKUs repr. next 15 % > B, the rest - 5 % of the visits => C

In M2 /Slotting: do a search

Choose between User-Defined Slotting (and choose “from” and “to” date) or choose Periodic Slotting for pre-defined intervals (e.g. last 1, 3, 6, 12 months).

Choose MHA to be analysed.

Identify wrongly-placed SKUs

The search result high-lights diffs between assigned zone and visit stats. New zone is suggested.

Detail view shows graphs for location visits and replenishment moves stats.

Change zone definition / initiate move

Initiate a change in zone setup and/or initiate a move assignment to a different location

(assignment is added to a separate slotting queue)

TMS Integration

TMS integration

Value: Flexibility in TMS integration and label print-outs. Functionality: Web-service submitted to TMS at start of pick run. Transport label print-out scenarios:
