Brief History of UAV

• In August 22nd 1849 Austria sent unmanned, bomb-filled

balloons to attack Venice.

• In 1916 (WWI), A. M. Low’s “Aerial Target” was one of the

first unmanned aerial vehicle.

• The birth of U.S. UAVs began in 1959 when United

States Air Force officers were concerned about losing pilots over hostile territory and they thought of unmanned flights.

• In the year 1964, U.S Navy initiated America’s highly

classified ‘Red Wagon’ UAVs into their first combat missions of the Vietnam war.

• In 1943 (WWII), the Germans’ V1 & V2 used as guided

bombs aimed for London. Also, a camera drone was used to

collect aerial footage.

• In the year 1969, first Israeli UAV took photos of

Jordanian and Egyptian posts.
