 The system, designed and supplied by Aries as turn-key project, serves for Spanish Air -force pilots to simulate extreme weather.  The goal is to test if the pilots and their equipment can resist extreme temperature and thermal shock. The system temperature range is from -65 C to +96 C.  The control system can adjust the temperature change at a rate of 10 C per minute, as well as to set the relative humidity from 20% to 85% and control at low-humidity conditions.

The Test facility includes two climatic chambers the big one call “External” to reproduce outside conditions and the small one called “Internal” to reproduce the train cabin heating loads. A secondary glycol circuit is used for accurate measurement of delivered cooling

  • power. The system complies also with ASHRAE 37-1988 and EN 14511

measuring methods.

  • Chambers volume: 250 m3 / 50 m3

Conception, Design, Supply and commissioning

The test System is able to reproduce the synchronized deformation law of the A-pillar vs. B/C pillars of a side vehicle structure previously filmed in a full scale Crash Test Impact, while measuring the restoring forces of the structure. From this information the research engineers get valuable real stiffness data to feed the FE models.
