We will review rules and guidelines, share important information and respond to your questions. ● It is important that all representatives and judges attend this meeting.   6. The events 10th Annual Junior High Spiritual Festivity August 10th 2019 23th Annual High School & College Spiritual Festivity August 17th 2019

  7. Important Announcements ● Registration fee is $20 per participant. Individual exam remains the same at $10 per participant. ● Individual winners this year will receive a CHECK ○ 1st place winner - $100 ○ 2nd place winner - $75 ○ 3rd place winner - $50 ● BOTH EVENTS will be giving a talk for all participants in the main church. We’d like to use this time for spiritual benefit. Please encourage your teams to attend. ● We’re able to accept credit cards this year during registration.

  8. Registration ● Please confirm number of teams and judges participating this year with your contact person - DEADLINE WEDENESDAY ●Due to the large number of teams, at least two qualified judges from each church are needed to ensure the success of the event ●Online registration is now open. Please check with your church representative for a registration info. Registration closes two days before the event. During the registration period, you will be able to revise the list of participants. ● To facilitate registration and begin event on time, please finalize your participants during the registration period

Registration Continued ● Junior High Participant: in 6th,7th,8th grades (Also: 5th going to 6th in September and 8th going to 9th in September) ● High School Participant: in 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grades (Also: 8th going to 9th in September and 12th graduating June) ●College Participant: Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors (Also: entering College in September and individuals up to and including 24 years of age) ● A Participant who can belong to two age groups shall sign up for either group. Cannot participate in both groups ● Event fees: $20 per participant + $10 if taking multiple choice exam. We accept cash or checks as well as credit cards. Please make checks payable to "St. George Coptic Church"

  10. Sample Questions Sample questions are posted on the event website for students to be better prepared for the type and style of questions to expect. Some sample questions may appear on the exam. Junior High sample questions are now posted on the website High School & College sample questions are now posted on the website Please check the sample questions page regularly for updates and please send us sample questions to post.

  15. Start of event ● Please make sure you arrive before 10:00am and check in with the administration room. Then ensure your judges attend administration meeting at 10:45AM ● If you are traveling long distance and believe that your team will not be able to check in 10:00am please let us know now so we can schedule your team for a later start ● The room and times for your team will be displayed on TV monitors, please ensure your team is in their assigned room on time for the beginning of the first round promptly at 11:30 ● Please pay close attention to announcements over intercom for exam start times ●Contact your church representative if you have any trouble the day of the competition

  16. Judging and Scoring ●Good judging is an essential component for the success of the event. And to ensure objective judging, judges come from all participating churches ●It is crucial that judges and representatives from all participating churches read and become familiar with the event structure and rules ●In addition, judges must understand and adhere to judging and scoring guidelines. If there are any questions, please approach the administrators prior to the event start\ Rules and Scoring guidelines are available at www.spiritualfestivity. org/rules

  17. Judging and Scoring - Continued ● Judges please report to your rooms 10 minutes before start of exam. Please notify your room monitor if you plan to step away between exams, or if you plan to leave church building ● Judges will be fair and unbiased towards one team or another ●Judges will not comment on participating teams throughout the event. If any questions arise during the event, please only approach your room monitor and other judges in your room ● Winners of 1st - 4th places are not to be announced until awards ceremony

  18. During Exams ● During the exam, only the assigned event administrators will be taking photos and recording video, please inform your participants to refrain from doing so (photos are allowed between breaks) ● Overhead TV monitors will be used to display questions during the exams as well as hard copies of question on paper will be handed to the teams ● During the exam, to reduce distractions, please inform your participants and audience that cell phone use is prohibited ● zero-tolerance policy for cheating because it violates the mission of this event. During the exam, any participants found with a cheat sheet or a cell phone will incur a -25 point reduction to the team. And the student will not be allowed to compete for the rest of the event ● Only one student from the team can answer the question, other students on the team are not allowed to speak while the student is responding

  19. During Exams - Continued ● Advice to students: ○ Understand what the question is asking for and avoid answering a different question ○ Rehearse and organize your thoughts before giving the answer ○ Speak your answer loud and clear ○ Do not rush through your answers, speak your answer slowly - you will have enough time to answer (5 minutes in early rounds and 7 minutes in later rounds) ○ If the question has multiple parts, ensure that you respond to all parts of the question

  20. Addressing Disputes ● A good number of disputes arise due to misunderstanding event rules. Please ensure that your judges and representatives have read and understand event rules www.spiritualfestivity.org/rules. If you have questions, please approach administration before the event ● In an effort to ensure the event stays on schedule with minimal disruptions, complaints against judging and scoring will not be reviewed until after the event. ● Feedback forms will be available, please fill the form and submit to your room monitor
