NSW Water Allocation - Approach

  • Government assumes an extremely dry outlook
  • Low risk
  • Requirements codified in Water Sharing Plan
  • Priority of access to water (towns, domestic, stock, …)
  • End of system flow requirements
  • Planned Environmental allowances
  • Annual accounting (July - June)

2020-21 Outlook

  • Based on Minimum inflows, and expected water from

Snowy, all the essential supply requirements are secured for the water year 2020/21

  • If transmission losses higher than expected, then

there could be small shortfall in resources

  • These shortfall are generally recovered through winter

rains

Updates on WRP and WSPs

  • Submission of redrafted WRPs (including rewritten regulated WSPs and

amended unregulated WSPs) to MDBA – December 2019. These incorporate many elements of public submissions from all valleys.

  • Murray-Lower Darling and Murrumbidgee stakeholder (SAP) meetings –

Early next year

  • Finalised WRPs and gazettal of rewritten regulated WSPs – Next year

Murray , Murrumbidgee, and Lower Darling
