– More than 33.000 new cases will be diagnosed in 2012(1). It caused 14.238 deaths in 2009 (2).
! 90% of colorectal cancer cases could be cured if detected early. ! Despite the Council Recommendation on cancer screening for the European Union Member States (2003), population-based colorectal cancer screening programmes have not been widely set up in Spain yet. Alliance working strategies: a) Developing an annual advocacy campaign all over the country focused on colorectal cancer information for population over 50 years of age (target population for colon cancer screening programmes). b) Compiling scientific data, organizing scientific meetings and producing reports for public health administrations on: colorectal cancer epidemiology, cost-effectiveness, barriers and best practices on colorectal cancer screening and follow up. c) Calling the health authorities to organize population based colorectal cancer screening programmes Alliance working strategies: a) Developing an annual advocacy campaign all over
