Student Questions
We gathered questions from students across the city and have identified 5 areas to address
How can students access materials from their teachers during the closures? What do I do if I want to contact a teacher, counselor, or staff at my school? How can OUSD, schools, and teachers help students stay on track with their learning and what teachers are assigning, while having to navigate this crisis at home? How can schools provide a flexible schedule to support students during this time given the varied situations students face? What can I do if I need the internet at home? What can I do if I don’t have a computer at home? Will my attendance be affected because of school closures?
Access to Materials

How will students' grades be affected? Will I receive grades for the weeks before schools closed? Will I earn credits for the spring semester? Every school and every teacher is assigning material and assigning grades in different ways. Is it supposed to be the same for every school and every grade level? How will students in Credit Recovery Courses be able to make up their classes?
Impact on Grading
Credit Recovery: We would like to support our students in continuing their work for credit recovery online with APEX. However, until we are able to ensure that there is equitable access to technology, we will suspend credit recovery courses in APEX. We are also working to get clear guidance and policy from our county and state department of education about distance learning and credit recovery online.
How will grades be affected?
Grades before closures Grades during closures Grades going forward Students will receive grades for the work that was in progress or completed prior to Friday, March 13 Students will not receive credit or be penalized for complete/incomplete work done during closure. We are planning how to ensure students can earn credit. We are waiting on state and federal guidance around this. Ensuring students earn credit is a top priority.
What about statewide tests like SBAC and ELPAC? What about college entrance exams and AP exams I have already registered for?
Impact on Testing
➔ Statewide tests have been suspended. ➔ The May SAT has been cancelled. Currently the June SATs are still planned. AP is exploring offering
- nline AP testing.

Will I still take state tests and college entrance exams?
Will graduation be delayed? Will there be end of the year celebrations and events like promotion and graduations ceremonies? Will students have to attend school in the summer? Is it true that the school year will be extended?
Impact on Graduation
❖ We hope to have end of the year events celebrations. ❖ We are waiting on further information from the State and County about any extensions of “shelter in place” and for a projected date for returning to school. ❖ At the moment, there has been no decision to extend the school year. We will continue to provide regular updates as we get new information. We are learning new information everyday.
Will end of year events still occur and will we have summer learning?
Will this impact my 4-year college applications? What about my community college application? How do I get an official transcript mailed to a school or scholarship? Who do I contact if I have questions about my credits, college applications, or need support?
