WHERE WE ARE NOW:

  • Established AK Area Planning Transition Team
  • Area Planning transition requires high level of effort for resource

strapped agencies

  • Agency Reps from USCG D17 & Sector Anchorage, Alaska DEC,

and EPA recently met and devised plan to meet stated Area Planning objectives within a rapid timeline

  • Group developed a Plan of Action and

Milestones (POAM) for transition to NCP compliant Area Planning

slide-17
SLIDE 17

WORK COMPLETED TO DATE

  • Identify Proposed Planning Area Boundaries.
  • Solicit Stakeholder Input on Overall Proposal.

  • Design Proposed Plans Structure. Draft Tables of Contents for

ACP/RCP.

  • Create Crosswalk Matrix to Illustrate Proposed Relocation of Plan

Components from Existing Plans to Proposed Plans.

AREA PLANNING TRANSITION REALITIES

  • Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) Goals:

  • Joint Inland and Arctic & Western Alaska Area Committee mtg. fall 2018
  • PWS and Southeast Alaska Area Committees established before 30SEP19
  • POAM assumes the following:
  • Bridging strategy to get signed plans to Area Committees by 1OCT18
  • Plan reorganization (cut and paste) from UP/SCPs to RCP/4-ACPs
  • No agency resourcing available (2 CG Officers temporarily assigned to assist)
