Supervisors’ Professional Learning Community Agreements & Zoom Etiquette

The Supervisors’ Learning Community brings leaders together as a community of learners. As a community, we have committed to a model of learning that is emergent and recognizes the value of learning together in the context of our role as leaders. We believe we are each strengthened by our connections and relationships within the community. We have committed to the process of maintaining, reviewing, and refining a set of agreements that have been developed by the learning community. The following “ways of being” establish a shared understanding amongst all participants and allows us to engage in ongoing reflection of the practices we wish to see within our PLC.

Welcoming

  • We will welcome all participants and value the diversity of their

experience and the programs each represents.

  • We will take personal responsibility for creating the inviting

environment we seek.

  • We value accessibility for those who participate.

Trust

  • We will foster a climate of trust by ensuring a safe environment.
  • We will seek clarification without fear of judgement.
  • We will contribute honest feedback.

Respect

  • We will respect the uniqueness that each person brings.
  • We will work collaboratively to stay on task during group discussion.
  • We acknowledge that healthy conflict is okay.

Open Communication

  • We will engage in active listening and ensure that everyone has a voice.
  • We will share our experiences with an awareness of our personal “air

time”.

  • We will embrace the value of multiple perspectives.

COVID-19 Resources How to Talk to Children about COVID-19

SOME QUICK TIPS:

  • start the conversation by getting to their level and asking questions about

what they understand about the current situation (COVID-19)

  • encourage children to ask questions and share with them that you might

not know all the answers and that together you could research them

  • acknowledge that it’s okay to not have all the answers
  • do not provide more information than what the child is looking for
  • use simple and correct language, be honest, children have a right to

information about COVID-19

cleaning/sanitizing, gloves, and masks

  • share why everyone is worried about COVID-19 (that we don’t have a cure

yet or haven’t built up an immunity and that there are no vaccines, but scientists and researchers are working very hard on this)

  • talk about what the following terms mean: symptoms, pandemic, state of

emergency, physical/social distancing ***be sure to limit exposure to media
