  5. SCHOOL HOURS • School hours are 8:00- 3:41 • Students may enter school at 7:00 am. • All students are to be off campus by 4:15p.m. every day unless they are with a teacher or coach. • For their safety, no student is allowed on campus unsupervised.

  6. Tutoring • Free After-School Tutoring is available Monday through Thursday. • Tutoring is finished at 5:30 p.m . • The Boys & Girls Club at 3535 North Western Ave. is open until 7:00 p.m.

  7. ACADEMIC INTERVENTION (AI) • SUPPORT FOR YOUR CHILD! • A mandatory study hall held on the last day of each week from 4:00- 5:30pm in the school cafeteria for all students that have missing assignments in one or more classes.

  8. ATTENDANCE – 95% GOAL! • Students are considered present only when they are actually in a classroom or participating in a class or school sponsored activity. • UNEXCUSED • PARENT ACKNOWLEGED • DOCUMENTATION

  9. Make-up work • PARENT ACKNOWLEGED ABSENCE • UNEXCUSED ABSENCE • Students have one (1) day for each absence to make up all assignments, projects, and testing unless other arrangements are agreed upon in writing with each teacher.

  10. ATTENDANCE- Credit Loss • If a student has more than eight (8) absences per semester, excused and/or unexcused, the student will not receive credit for the class, whether or not the student has a passing grade. • Reviewed on a case-by-case basis • Absences must be properly documented within 10 school days to be considered for administrative review.

  11. ATTENDANCE- Attendance Codes • “ AMed ” - Indicates proper, dated medical excuse from a medical profession was provided to the school within 10 days of the student’s return to school (This is an excused absence) • "ALeg" - Indicates proper, dated legal excuse was provided in a timely manner (This is an excused absence) • "ABereav" - Indicates proper, dated bereavement excuse was provided in a timely manner (This is an excused absence) • "SSA" - School sponsored activity (This is an excused absence)

  12. BACKPACKS • For multiple safety reasons, backpacks may only be carried to & from lockers at the beginning & of the school day. • Backpacks are not allowed in the classroom or at lunch. • Only small purses will be allowed in the classroom.

  13. WIRELESS COMMUNICATION USAGE • Students may not use cell phones, mp3 players, headphones, laser lights, & other electronic devices at any time during school hours unless specifically permitted by the student's teacher for use during that class period only. • Students may use their cell phones during lunch in the cafeteria only.

  14. BREAKFAST, GRAB ‘N GO & LUNCH • Students are required to remain on campus throughout the school day • Nutritious breakfasts & lunches are available in the school cafeteria prepared by a contracted foodservice provider • Grab ‘N Go after first hour outside auditorium

SCHOOL UNIFORMS Shirts • Students may only wear HFAA polo or button down shirts purchased from (www.charteruniforms.com ) • Only HFAA logos are permitted on shirts or sweatshirts (No other logos or insignia are acceptable) • Undershirts may be short or long sleeve & must be solid white, red or black with no designs or insignias showing • All shirts must be of appropriate size & fit & in good condition

SCHOOL UNIFORMS Sweatshirts & Jackets • Only cardigans, sweater vests, sweatshirts or jackets with the HFAA logo/crest may be worn inside the building. • Orders for jackets will be placed in (need to get dates from Niria) • They must be clean & maintained in good condition, unaltered, & worn as designed with an HFAA polo worn underneath

  17. SCHOOL UNIFORMS Pants or Shorts • May be plain or pleated front • Must be of appropriate size & fit & worn at the waist • Black or khaki ONLY (NO blue jeans or sweatpants)

  18. SCHOOL UNIFORMS Skirts or Skorts • Must be plain, simply styled & of appropriate size & fit • Must be knee length • May be solid color khaki or black, exclusive of ornamentation & simply styled. Plaid skirts may only be ordered from Charter Uniforms.

  19. OUT OF UNIFORM DAYS Out-of-uniform dress does not include: • tank tops • any form of sleeveless shirt • cut-offs • exposed midriffs • short shorts • hipsters, sagging pants, or other inappropriate attire
