Context for the Accommodation Review

The UCDSB has a roster of schools with almost 10,000 vacant pupil places The Ministry of Education funding for operating this vacant student space is declining The UCDSB has embarked on a Pupil Accommodation Review process, with the goal of reducing the amount of excess space to more efficiently direct its funding to the kinds of learning experiences our communities expect now and into the future

The purpose of the Accommodation Review Committees (ARCS)

Accommodation Review Committees (ARCs) provide local information and context that will inform the completion of a final staff report to be submitted to the Board on February 15, 2017 The Board will decide its response to the recommendations of the Final Staff Report on March 23, 2017

The Role of the ARC

The role of the ARC is to act as a “conduit of information” to assist the review process as a whole The essential mandate of the ARCs is to obtain information from their respective school communities in response to the Initial Staff Report, in order to assist the decision-making responsibilities of the Board of Trustees

Delegation Guidelines

  • The Building for the Future Pupil Accommodation Review Guide for

Presentations at ARC Public Meetings, November 2016 and January 2017 The Building for the Future ARC Terms of Reference state that “Persons wishing to make presentations to the ARC at the public meetings must notify the ARC Chair by email 5 days before the ARC meeting.”

  • Presentations are limited to a maximum of 10 minutes in length so that,

combined, they will not exceed more than 50% of the public meeting agenda.

  • Please note the following criteria for presentations:

1. Only two persons will be designated to act as spokespersons for the delegation.

  • 2. The time allocated for the entire delegation’s presentation is ten minutes.

3. Upon completion of the presentation, the Chair will allow up to five minutes for questions by ARC members.

  • 4. There will be no debate between spokespersons and members of the ARC.
