There are no public examinations during these years. A Age 14 ‐ 15  At age 14, British students start a 2 ‐ year General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) programme. They study up to 11 subjects of their choice. UK Education System (Cont/..) Age 16 ‐ 17  At age 16 students start a 2 ‐ yer Advanced Level (A Level) programme They specialise in 3 to 4 subjects that are usually relevant to the degree subject they wish to follow at university. “A levels” are national examinations and are recognized “A l l ” ti l i ti d i d by all UK universities and by institutions worldwide. 4

These courses lead to private examinations that are an alternative to A ‐ levels. Entry Requirements to UK universities  Different universities will have different entries requirements. All UK universities accept the full IB Diploma and A levels for direct entry onto an undergraduate degree.  No UK universities will accept the Mathayom 6, of IB certificate for direct entry onto an undergraduate degree. 5

  6. 26/07/56 What is IB Diploma?  International Baccalaureate Diploma programme is an International Baccalaureate Diploma programme is an internationally recognized qualification for students aged 16 to 19. It is based on detailed academic study of a wide range of subjects, including Languages, Arts, Science, Mathematics, History and Geography. It leads to a single qualification, rather than separate qualifications for individual subjects However if you qualifications for individual subjects. The University Foundation Programme  The University Foundation Programme (UFP) is a full ‐ time course designed to prepare students for entry into Bachelor degree courses at the UK’s top universities.
