What at a great eat seaso ason! n!

Brady Leman from the Calgary Alpine Club and AST has had outstanding results all year on the World Cup Ski Cross Tour with 8 trips to the podium including 2 victories. Brady stands 2nd in the overall World Cup standings and has set his sight winning the gold medal at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in South Korea. Astonishing performances by Mac Marcoux and guide Jack Leitch at the World Para-Alpine Skiing Championships in Tarvisio, Italy. 4 Gold and 1 Silver! Jack was born and raised in Calgary is another product of the Calgary Alpine Racing Club and spent 3 years honing his skills with the Alberta Ski Team before transitioning to Mac’s guide this past summer. Now they are FIS World Para-Alpine Skiing Champions. Well done Mac and Jack! Another great success story for Alberta has been the success of Erik Read (Banff Alpine Racers) on the World Cup circuit. Erik is now ranked in the top 30 in the World Cup for both slalom and giant slalom. Erik has been a consummate professional both on and off the hill. His ability to balance all his commitments to Denver University, including missing a World Cup so he could race for his school at a required race in is remarkable.

U12 Provincial Series

• Encouraging a longer length with more shape turn to promote improved body position and dynamic carving
• Increasing emphasis on GS turn, Terrain Adaptation & SX, longer SL turn, Kinder Kombi
• Slightly longer recommendation for skis ( Forehead)
• SL will be raced in stubbies
• SL Combos will not have last outside gate ( training combos)
• Delays will have outside gate
• Kinder Kombi stubbies and Panels, no combos or delays
• No Gate keepers in GS (Jury only), Optional in SL
• No sanctioned racing prior to January 20th
• Dedicated u12 SX/ Terrain Race to be added to the u12 provincial series

U14 Provincial Series

• Speed Sisters
• Series Structure un changed
• ( Start orders, 1 race per month, single run racing)
• U14 AWG qualifier to occur in December
• U14 AWG, Fort McMurray, Family Day long weekend
• Graduating u14 year to attend CWG camp with U16 1st years
• Course setting relatively unchanged ( Some adaptation to PSL)
• Whistler Cup open to AB clubs
• U14 Grads to be invited to U16 final
• No Gate Keepers GS/SG (Jury Only)

U16 Provincial Series

• ACA Rising Stars
• Top 4 Men & Women u16 Series Overall 2016/2017 season
• PSO EU projects, ACA Topolino has been canceled
• AB targeting Pokal Loka, Slovenia
• U16 Nationals likely to go to Eastern Venue (QC or NB)
• AST Integration program will continue
• Whistler Cup team Canada reduced to 2 team Canada
• WC Team Canada Qualifying at u16 Nationals
• WC Team AB (2 teams) qualifying at u16 Series
• CWG Camp U16 First year
• U16/ FIS Spring Speed Camp one week later to encourage participation
• No gate Keepers in GS/SG (Jury Only)

FIS/ AB CUP

• 2x Speed Camps (November & January)
• Lake Louise NorAm FR project
• Working with BC Alpine to address penalties
• EU January Project for U19s lead by ACA

• Looking to Increase # of SG/GS races in western Canada
• U19 Nationals Cancelled
• Canadian National Championships will award U19, U21, SR
• Provincial Project???
• AST Integration program to continue
• ACA Spring Speed Camp for top performers (Invite)

Ski Cross

• WSX to continue joint between BCA/AASA
• Discussing removal of U12 age class with BCA/AASA to better focus tracks
• Addition of SX into NGSL and U12 provincial series
• Nakiska WC SX in Mid January
• Discussing FIS SX race viability with ACA
• 2019 CWG will include SX races
