Financial analysis

  • We run the production such that, there is about

2.8 tons table size catfish every month for sales i.e. stocks every month, our capacity allows to stock four times in a circle.

  • A batch is 3000 fingerlings and average of 350

naira is required to achieve 1-1.5kg in 6months i.e. 3000×350= 1050000naira

  • Present market value of 1.2kg is @ 470naira i.e.

after 6mnths 3000×1.2×470= 1692000naira

  • A profit of about 62%.
slide-25
SLIDE 25

Our Strength

  • Production of high quality fingerlings
  • Provision of ON-FARM training for prospective

graduate and non-graduate individuals.

  • Value added catfish i.e. smoked catfish, live

package fish hamper etc. for both local and international market.

  • Employment generation within the local

communities.

slide-26
SLIDE 26

Constraints

  • High cost of feed components which is 65-70% of

cost of production.

  • Inadequate livestock and aquaculture subsector

intervention.

  • Inadequate/expensive post harvest machinery

e.g. smoking kin or hood to produce quality smoked fish.

  • Marketing and sales problem i.e. farmer finding it

difficult to sell fresh fish at the right time and even when sold, middlemen taking the fish off the farmer at there own price and terms.
