Low birthweight rates have declined among babies with RIte Care coverage and among babies with private coverage. Preterm birth rates are improving among babies with RIte Care coverage, falling from a peak of 10.9% in 2007 to 9.1 in 2013.

What is RIte Smiles?

health program for children (born since May 1, 2000) with RIte Care and other Medicaid coverage.

  • Launched in 2006.
  • 86,000 children (41% of all

children in RI) were covered through RIte Smiles in 2015.
