under the supervision of the School of Humanities". and... As an intern in the United States Congress during the period of deliberations for the Hurricane Sandy Relief Act, I witnessed how reliant citizens are on their governments to provide solutions. I also saw how quickly legislation can be passed in response to natural disasters. and... Through my participation and experience at the G20 Youth Forum, I gained an understanding of the barriers natural disasters create for economic development. Australia has a longstanding commitment to active middle power diplomacy, and our national experience with successful disaster management represents an opportunity to lead our region in this field. and finally... Researching the resilience of one of the world’s most disaster-affected regions will be of benefit to the rest of Asia, and Australia’s relief efforts, especially given the predicted outcomes of increasing natural disasters.
