SOAK*2020 Directed Group Sale

In order to support the core social infrastructure of SOAK, we ensure critical theme camps, artists, and infrastructure volunteers have access to targeted ticket sales. Providing these dedicated groups with access to tickets early on allows for their project planning to commence and also decreases demand (and therefore competition) for tickets in the Main Sale. The Directed Group Sale is intended to help pre-identified, established collaborative groups get access to tickets for their critical team members so that they can begin planning their projects.

If your sound can be clearly heard at Gate, you will be instructed to lower your volume.

Art & Camp Placement

Camp placement decisions announce early March via email Symposium March 28th and 29th, contact placement@soakpdx.com

slide-33
SLIDE 33

Increase in Camp Applications

  • 75 camps in 2017
  • 81 camps in 2018 - 8% increase
  • 105 camps in 2019 - 29.63% increase
  • 111 camps in 2020 - 5.7% increase

With ticket scarcity and DGS being a main avenue to ensure a ticket for a participant, we expect this to keep rising.

slide-34
SLIDE 34

What Are We Doing About This?

  • More detailed criteria in preparation for not placing camps due to space.
  • A more thorough examination of camp applications and higher communication

with camps to understand their interactivity and gifus to SOAK and to make educated and impartial decisions on who is placed or not.

  • More feedback to camps based on the criteria so they can improve and receive

placement.

  • An adjusted timeline so that only camps that are placed are receiving DGS.

Regional Contacts - What and who are we?

A Regional Contact’s role is to help build and support the Burning Man community in a local area. Burning Man Project considers Burning Man to be a year-round, global community comprised of individuals, groups, and events.

slide-64
SLIDE 64

Regional Contacts - What and who are we?

We help you connect with local resources. We help you connect with playa resources. We help represent you to the BMORG itself. ...If you have feedback, questions, and a particular interest - tell us.

slide-65
SLIDE 65

ARCS

WHAT: “Autonomous” Regional Contact Selection WHY: The Global Network is growing at a pace that outstrips the ability for Intake Team to interview and appoint Regional contacts at a rate that keeps up with demand. The hope is to decentralize some of the selection process so as to empower established, thriving and healthy regions. The process requires a Burning Man appointed moderator to oversee the process Toronto Regional Contact & Meta Regional, Mountie, has agreed to assist us.
