checked upon entry to the building

  • Students will turn in signed self-certification ticket as they enter
  • Students entering the school will be spaced six feet apart
  • Students must wear masks at all times
slide-10
SLIDE 10

Pick Up

  • Parents will be asked to enter the south lot and park in the circle

drive along the side of the building - this plan is the same as last year

  • Once that area is full, cars will park in the spaces in the south lot. All

cars will follow the same flow pattern for safety keepting the traffic flow moving in a clockwise pattern

  • Additional parking is available in the Prairieview lot east of the

Lakeview lot, but we do not anticipate the need for this lot at this time, it is available as a back-up area

slide-11
SLIDE 11

Once Students Arrive...

  • Students will report to their cohort classroom with all materials
  • Lockers will not be used - this may change once we see how our

traffic flow patterns can be adjusted to have cohorts use lockers at different times

  • Backpacks/book bags for all supplies encouraged
  • All instruction will take place in the same cohort classroom
  • Lunches, coats, backpacks, materials will all be in their six foot

socially distanced area at their desk

slide-12
SLIDE 12

INSTRUCTIONAL SETTING

  • All instruction will take place in the cohort classroom except for PE
  • Each cohort will be in a classroom where social distancing of six feet can be

maintained

  • Teachers will move from class to class during passing period
  • Students will remain in their rooms
  • Staff will “Stagger” moving so teacher will be supervising from the hallways to

supervise during the transition

  • Parapros and any available staff will assist with supervision of the cohort rooms
  • Staff will develop a washroom/break plan during classes so there are only a few

cohorts moving at any given time. Each teacher will be flexible with their plans for breaks to minimize students in a hallway at any time

slide-13
SLIDE 13

Special Education

  • Some students will join a cohort for a specific class based on their IEP
  • Student requiring additional support through instructional classes, RTI

reading and math classes and Strategies/resource periods will receive this support in the special education teacher’s classroom or assigned seating in the IMC

  • All social distancing guidelines will remain in place in these classrooms
slide-14
SLIDE 14

Enhanced/Advanced/Classes

  • Lakeview will continue offer Enhanced ELA, Science and Social

Studies courses this year

  • Courses are arranged by cohort aligning courses whenever

possible - the goal is to avoid excessive moves outside of the assigned cohort as much as possible

  • A few students will be included in enhanced cohorts not

previously assigned, while others may not be included in enhanced courses but will be given differentiated opportunities

slide-15
SLIDE 15

Physical Education

  • Students will report to one of the gyms with their cohort for PE
  • PE will be outside whenever possible
  • Health will be taught in the cohort classroom beginning in the 2nd

quarter

  • One gym may have two cohorts with a divider during a period
  • Curriculum will focus on movement, exercise and “foot” activities.

Rackets, bats and other hand held equipment will not be used during the first quarter until an evaluation of Covid status is done.

slide-16
SLIDE 16

Spanish

  • HS Spanish 1 has moved to a one-year course this year. This has been a part of a

transition plan for the last 2 years and has not changed

  • There are 3 sections of Spanish Classes - the same as last year, but sections are
  • smaller. Originally we were going to offer two sections of the class due to the

shift to a one-year class, but we are keeping three for this year due to cohort enrollment limitations

  • Mrs. Bergmann, our Spanish teacher, will continue to offer

exploratory/introduction to seventh grade students this year during the Encore Block

  • Students enrolled in Spanish 1 will have the opportunity for a proficiency credit at

DGS and have the opportunity to move to Spanish 2 as freshman

slide-17
SLIDE 17

BAND

  • Band instruction will continue using a small group/lesson format that includes

social distancing and instrument covers for wind instruments

  • Band Lessons will be held in a socially distanced outdoor environment
  • Music appreciation will be considered when outdoor learning is not available
  • Students will receive weekly band lessons during an Encore or PE time
  • There will be no pull-out lessons from core classes during the first quarter
  • Once the school year begins, we are hoping there will be opportunities for

small groups to meet before school in a socially distanced setting

  • There will be no large ensemble rehearsals at this time
  • At some point in the year, this may change depending on COVID restrictions
slide-18
SLIDE 18

Advisory Period

  • Each cohort will have an advisory teacher assigned. It will be their first period teacher
  • There will be a weekly advisory period at the beginning of the day on Wednesdays (no

change)

  • This year, advisory periods will include a combination of staff created social-emotional

learning lessons as well as College/Career readiness activities using the Naviance tools

  • We anticipate advisory activities will be a large part of our opening days of school based
  • n the amount of time students have not attended school and the “New World” they

will see at Lakeview this year

slide-19
SLIDE 19

LUNCH

  • Students will eat during one of our class periods.
  • Lunch will be served from the lobby by cohort with staff supervision
  • Lunch eating areas will include both gyms and classroom areas to limit

students in any single space

  • Lunch areas will be supervised by Principal, RAS coordinator, Parapros

and staff to ensure social distancing is maintained

  • Parents will have the option to take students off campus for lunch as long

as they are able to be back in time for their next class.

  • Students cannot leave the campus for lunch without their parent or

guardian

slide-20
SLIDE 20

Lunch - Continued

  • Aramark will be our food service provider again this year.
  • There will be two boxed lunch options each day with no a la carte or

snack options

  • Only one grade level will eat at a time
  • Students will eat in various locations including the gym and classrooms

socially distanced

  • Food service will be available but the distribution will look different
  • Students will be called to the lunch areas by cohort to minimize students

in hallways between lunch periods

  • 6th lunch - 11:10-11:50
  • 7th lunch - 11:55-12:35
  • 8th lunch - 12:40-1:20
slide-21
SLIDE 21

Cleaning/Disinfecting Protocols

  • Each building currently has 3 electrostatic handheld disinfecting sprayer
  • Each bus has its own electrostatic handheld disinfecting sprayer
  • Buses disinfected after every completed bus route
  • All classrooms and building spaces disinfected nightly
  • Lunch tables disinfected after each lunch period and any other use
  • Bathrooms disinfected at least hourly
  • Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms disinfected after morning and

afternoon sessions

  • To accommodate these cleaning/disinfecting needs, custodial hours have

been adjusted

slide-22
SLIDE 22

Assessment

Assessing students’ present level of performance immediately upon our return will be paramount to determining initial curriculum needs and standards to focus on. MAP tests will be administered in early fall and classroom pre/post assessments will be given to assess skills

slide-23
SLIDE 23

DISMISSAL

  • Student dismissal will be staggered by alpha or by cohort, TBD
  • Bus riders will exit through the lobby exit
  • Pick-up, walkers, and bikers will exit through the main entrance off the

parking lot

  • Staff will be assigned to areas to assist with traffic flow and coordination
  • f students on busses
slide-24
SLIDE 24

Extra-Curricular Activities Before/After School

  • The year will begin with all sports and after school activities on hold and

will be evaluated individually to determine whether or not the activity can take place while following Covid guidelines for student safety

  • This will be evaluated continually prior to the opening of school as well as

after classes have begun

slide-25
SLIDE 25

Student Handbook

  • Student handbooks will be updated to include current language and

guidance regarding Covid/pandemic guidelines

  • Handbooks will be shared with parents and discussed with students

at the beginning of the school year

Remote Learning Option

  • Students that are participating remote learning will have synchronous

instruction for their core classes

  • Attendance will be taken in classes. Students are expected to be online and

participating in classes remotely.

  • Students need to be “Called In” if they are ill and unable to attend remote

classes

  • Homework, assignments and tests will be submitted and graded

predominantly through Google Classroom or other programs ( Digits, etc.)

  • PE will not be synchronous as their location will predominantly be outside
  • Encore will be evaluated based on the nature of each course included in the
  • rotation. Students may be exempted from coursework as needed based on

the activities in each class during Encore rotations

slide-31
SLIDE 31

Remote Only Cohort?

A cohort specifically for remote learners has been examined and is unlikely due to the varying programming needs of our students. This will be re-evaluated after we know the number of students in remote learning and their specific needs, but this currently is not in the plan.
