Project Name: WaterGenius Challenge Grantee: BKi District Award: $50,000 Year Awarded: 2015 Project Summary: The WaterGenius Challenge was created as a solution for local governments and water agencies to help their communities to use less water through an employer-based campaign model. BKi proposed a Utility Challenge that would promote water conservation among employees at large employers in Santa Clara Valley Water District’s service territory. The Challenge used BKi’s proprietary WaterGenius platform to provide employees with information, strategies, and incentives to save water. Project Name: Beyond Leak Detection Grantee: San Jose Water Company (SJWC) District Award: $50,000 Year Awarded: 2014 Project Summary: With funding from SCVWD, the San Jose Water Company has been conducting research testing to evaluate savings from the use of an advanced water meter for single family residential (SFR) customers. SJWC has been conducting testing throughout the Willow Glen neighborhood in the City of San Jose. Specifically, the project aims to reduce apparent water loss, allowing the utility to bill for more of the water actually delivered; and detect flow down to 0.05.
