If a player is absent from any period of the day without prior clearance, the player may not practice or play in a game that day.

  9. Football Attendance Policy State Rules: ● 10 practice days before a competition (game, jamboree, or officiated scrimmage) ○ This is an IHSAA Rule. ○ All State Rules may be found on the IDHSAA website ■ “Ten Day Practice Rule: ● Ten days of practice must be conducted before an athlete participates in a contest regardless of when they become a participant on the team. Each player must have at least two (2) days of practice without any pads. Shoulder pads may be worn on the third (3rd) day and full pads on the fifth (5th) day.” ● Physical Requirement: ○ All players must have a physical on file with his or her school before he or she may participate in any sanctioned practice. ○ Practices do not count toward your 10 until you have an up-to-date physical on file (Freshmen and Juniors must have physicals). ■ Players must have a physical every 2 (two) years.

  10. Football Attendance Policy (cont’d) ● Coaches Responsibilities ○ Coaches will take attendance for every practice. ○ Coaches will check in with players about player absences. Player Responsibilities: ● ○ Players need to report absences for appointments to coaches during the day before’s practice, or via Remind. The sooner ahead of time the better. ○ Players need to contact coaches as soon as possible about other absences ■ Sickness, accidents, unplanned issues, etc. ■ Use Remind or call Alby (Coach Alby’s Home phone: 208-623-6311)

  11. Football Attendance Policy (cont’d) ● Unexcused Absences: ○ Any unreported absence from a practice or game. ■ A player with 1 or more unexcused absences in a week will not be allowed to participate in any competition(s) for that week. ● Players must “make-up” missed practice with conditioning following their next practice. ● Excused Absences: ○ Any reported absences from a practice or game. ■ Players with 1 or more excused absences in a week can still be held from participation in competition(s) for the week, and may not be allowed to start the next competition. ● Players must “make-up” missed practice with conditioning following their next practice. ■ Absences, excused or not , still affect the team’s daily practice routines and effectiveness. ● If you are gone, there will be a consequence of some kind.

  12. Football Attendance Policy (cont’d) ● Tardies (Late to practice) ○ Tardies will be treated in a similar way to absences: Those reported will be excused ; those unreported will be unexcused . ○ Consequences for excused and unexcused tardies will be similar to absences. ● Varsity Games for Sub-varsity players (Junior Varsity or Freshmen) ○ All JV and Varsity players are expected to dress for all Varsity Home games. ■ Freshmen may be asked to dress for a JV game as well, especially the League games in October. ○ Any player not at a Varsity Game will be subject to the same absentee rules stated above, excused or unexcused .

  13. Game Uniform & Dress Policy ● This policy is for player uniforms for all Timberlake football games (Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Freshmen), for all players. ● The purpose of this policy is to ensure that every player looks uniform , that is to say as much alike one another as possible. ● Socks: ○ Must be a ONE SOLID color. ○ Players can choose White , Navy Blue , Gold or Black only ○ Any other color, or any mixed colored sock being worn will result in removal from the entire game, and the violating player will be given an unexcused absence for his dress violation.

  14. Game Uniform & Dress Policy (cont’d) ● Underpad Shirt and/or Long Sleeve Shirt and/or Leggings/Long Pants: ○ Must be ONE SOLID color. ○ Players can choose White , Navy Blue , Gold or Black only ○ Any other color, or any mixed colored shirt being worn will result in removal from the entire game, and the violating player will be given an unexcused absence for his dress violation.

  15. Game Uniform & Dress Policy (cont’d) ● Cleats: ○ Players can choose White , Navy Blue , Gold or Black only (a mix of these colors is acceptable) ○ As a staff we understand that finding football cleats on a budget can be tough. We suggest these colors for our players, but we understand that the cleats found on the discount rack are usually those with the most outlandish color schemes. ■ To be clear, there will be no playing time punishment for cleats that do not meet these requirements. We are hopeful that all THS player will look as close to uniform as possible, but we also understand that buying football cleats on a budget means you don’t always get a color choice.

  16. Game Uniform & Dress Policy (cont’d) ● Head Gear (under the helmet): ○ No Doo-rags, or skull caps of any kind may be worn by any Timberlake Player. ● Gloves: ○ Players can choose White , Navy Blue , Gold or Black only ( a mix of these colors is acceptable) ○ Any other color, or any other color mixed gloves being worn will result in removal from the entire game, and the violating player will be given an unexcused absence for his dress violation.

  17. Parent Help ● We could really use up to 2 Chain-Gang Crews for Freshmen and Junior Varsity home games. ○ We need a minimum of 3 people (2 for the chains, 1 for the Down-marker Box) ● We have 5 Sub-Varsity home games ○ 3 JV & 2 Freshmen ● This is a great way for you to give back, and you get to watch the games from the best seat in the house! ● There is a sign-up sheet up front!

  18. Remind - Communications ● We have been using Remind, an online communications portal, for 2 years now. ● If you have not been receiving text updates and announcements all summer, and you would like to know ASAP about changes, please come see Coach Rider after the presentation. ○ This program works for all smart phones, dumb phones, and email.

  19. Facebook Team Group - Communications ● Timberlake Football: Team Page ○ Search: “Timberlake Football” or “Timberlake High School” ● We are using this for announcements, document sharing, and Team video sharing. ● It is a closed group, so you need to be connected with the program to see what is shared there.
