NOTE

Present Project: Prospecting Rights still held or applied for. Historic Project: This refers to the areas and work completed on the entire Project from day one.

Introduction

The historic target area covered a large area held under six (6) different Prospecting Rights which were applied for sequentially as more information on the deposit became available (Historic Project). The obtaining of such a large area was necessary as there are often large variations in the nature and potential of these alluvial deposits. Some drilling was done on most of these Prospecting Right areas (areas consist of one to several farms with different land owners) and the areas of higher potential were kept (Documented under the heading Present Project). It is necessary to include the results of the work done on the Historic Project, which includes the three (3) Rights held at present, as the work done outside the Present Project speaks to the potential of the Present Project and because the major portion of the test mining was done on the farm Zamenkomst (outside Present Project). On Zamenkomst only a small portion of the good gravel was preserved and mined out (Prospecting Right terminated). At the time, when this test mining was carried out, no

  • ther Prospecting Rights were available and the contractors moved

else ware. It is important to note that all Test Mining was carried

  • ut with no cost to the “Company” (Contractors sold the Diamonds

for their account and only the data and results of the Test Mining was retained by the “Company”). The only costs carried by the “Company” was Drilling and Salaries. To make it easier for the reader to understand the presentation, an attempt will be made to split it, where possible, into:

Present and Historic Project

Summary of the Harts River Project

The Harts River Project comprises of a contiguous block of farms situated in the Northern Cape of South Africa between Vryburg and Taung, known as the Brussels Block. At present license covers 4257.8249 hectare (42.6 square kilometers) (Present Project). The Present Project Area lies approximately 20 km south of Vryburg and stretches for approximately 10 km from northeast to southwest and deposit varies in width between 600 and 2000 meters and in thickness between 1 and 5 meters. The Present Project Area comprises four farms, or portions there of, and form a contiguous block from Zwartkrans Por. 0 in the northeast to Uitenhage Por 3 in the southwest (Present Project). The deposit (Historic and Present Project) has good potential as it yields large diamonds of very good quality and the largest stones recovered to date were 60.21, 24.29, 19,73 and 16.65 carats respectively and the highest price obtained was US$ 9469.44 (per carat) for the 24.29 carat stone (US$ 230012.69 for single stone at 2006/2007 prices, Carat prices have since risen by 20% or more). % of Stones Larger than 5 Carat - 32 % - Calcrete Gravel (Historic Project) % of Stones Larger than 5 Carat - 25 % - Calcrete Gravel (Historic Project) % of Stones Larger than 10 Carat - 19 % - Calcrete Gravel (Historic Project)

  • Potentially 35 km palaeo-river gravel deposit, with large
  • diamonds. – 1,500 to >10 000 US$/carat (Present Project

represents +-10 km of this distance and represents best portion of this Historic Project area.)

  • 1,200 carats recovered from Bulk Sampling in 2006/2007

  • nly). As these are 2006/2007 prices and the $ price per carat

has increased substantially since then, it would not be unrealistic to put the present price average price at 1,250 US$/carat. Best priced for a parcel 1,942 US$/carat (Historic Project Zamenkomst only)

  • Expanding resource base further through exploration.
  • Other large drainage systems with good potential are

developed in close proximity to the Project Area.

  • There is a high potential for finding larger, high value stones.
  • Only 10 km of the original Historic Project (35 km) is included

in the present Brussels Project Area.

  • >213 542 m3 gravel has been treated (> 491 147 tons) in bulk

sampling ( Historic and Present Project Areas).

  • Gravel treated with 3 x 14’ rotisserie pans, 30 tons/hour each,

DMS and flow-sort recovery of diamonds from pan concentrates.

  • The present Project Resource indicates 187 233.62 carats of

diamonds at US$ 1000+ /carat. This indicates an in-situ value

  • f US$ 187 233 620 at a grade of 0.30 cpht.

These are historic prices and with new elevated prices the in- situ value could be 20% higher (US$ 224 680 344).

  • Bulk sampling carried out by small scale contractors.

Test mining to be continued in near future on Present Project areas LOCALITY The Project is situated approximately 20 kilometers due south of Vryburg in the Northern Cape and straddles the Vryburg/Taung regional tar road (R49).

INFRASTRUCTURE The Eskom grid is well developed throughout the project area and sidelines from the main grid supply all farms. Water is abundant in the area from drill holes and the waterlogged Spruit Gravels. In addition to this the Taung/Vryburg water pipeline, which supplies Vryburg with water from the Vaal Harts irrigation scheme, passes through the center of the project area and permission has already been granted by the local authorities to purchase and pump water from the line.

PRESENT PROJECT

Drilling Completed A total of 415 percussion drill holes have been completed at four (4) localities Gamabot Por’s 2 (Fig 3) & 3 (Fig 4), Zwartkrans Por 0 (Fig 5) and Uitenhage Por 3 (Fig 6). Ore Resources

HISTORIC AND PRESENT PROJECT

EXPLORATION MODEL The main objective of the model are to postulate where viable alluvial gravel deposits is formed and more importantly, preserved. It is believed that the material forming the gravels is sourced from Dwyka and/or Younger Tillite. Most, if not all of the diamonds

  • riginate from the same source with the possibility of enrichment

from Kimberlites in the drainage area feeding the Losase/Dry Harts valley. The Dry Harts valley, which extends into the Losase valley to the northeast and into the Harts River Valley to the south, drains in a southerly direction. The valley is a broad (5 to 15 kilometers), flat- bottomed, steep sided feature with very few tributaries and does not conform to the pattern formed by other palaeo and present

  • drainages. The valley is anomalous in shape in cross section, if

compared to other major drainages such as the “Upper” Harts, Vaal and Orange Rivers. The Harts, Vaal and Orange Rivers and other Palaeo-drainages, have “V” shaped valley whereas The “Lower” Harts, Dry Harts and Losase valleys are a broad “U” shape. If the disposition and nature of the gravels along the entire valley (Brussels, Pampierstad, below Spitskop Dam) are considered, it is difficult to envisage that the valley was formed by ice and water action alone. The valley is bounded in the west by sediments and dolomites of the Griqualand West Sequence and in the east by sediments and volcanics of the Ventersdorp Sequence, both forming steep sided escarpments along the edges of the valley. It is postulated that the flat-bottomed nature and the excessive width

  • f the valley is due to a major pull-apart structure that exploited

the flat dipping dolomite/lava contact to accommodate a tensional lateral rift like movement. This structure was probably pre-Dwyka and was further exploited by the Dwyka and younger ice ages as

slide-16

well as stream action. The rapid change in gravel type from very coarse and immature in the north (Brussels) to wide spread, fine grained and fluvial, with large cross bedding and a high proportion of floor rip-up clasts, to the south (Pampierstad and further downstream), can possible be attributed to large floods caused by the breaking of ice dam walls which possibly formed across the valley and/or at entry points of side streams (e.g. at Klein Harts town, just south of Brussels Station and the Harts River to the south of the Brussels Project Area). These ice ages were probably of a younger age than the Dwyka but could also incorporate late Dwyka events. These floods were probably responsible for removing all older, possible coarse gravels, and replacing them with thick fine grained units along the southern portions of the valley, below ice dams that formed within the valley and downstream of entry points of lateral ice dams that formed in tributaries. One of the features of these tributaries is that they form wide, open valleys perpendicular to, and away from the main valley, and enter into the main valley through narrow gorge-like openings, which are ideal for the formation of Ice Dam Walls. If this principal is applied to the project area it could explain why most of the Calcrete Gravels have been replaced by younger Spruit Gravels at Zamenkomst as there is an entry point from the west just to the north (upstream) of the farm (south of Brussels Station). This could also explain why the distribution of the Spruit Gravel on Zamenkomst does not always conform to the younger stream terrace development. In areas upstream of this entry point the Spruit Gravel conforms, and is restricted to the younger stream terraces. To the north of Brussels Station no Ice Dam entry points are developed and the areas of Calcrete Gravel development appear to be unaffected by this process i.e. the Calcrete Gravel is restricted to geographically higher calcretized terraces whereas the Spruit

slide-17
SLIDE 17

HISTORIC AND PRESENT PROJECT

Gravel is confined to lower terraces which conform to present day drainage patterns. The Basement to the gravel is very frequently a soft black shale which is always developed geographically, and stratigraphically, much lower than outcropping dark olive green Dwyka Tillite and Dwyka Shale. The Dwyka Tillite and Shale outcrop mostly on elevated portions of older basement rocks such as the Griqualand West or Ventersdorp, along the raised sides of the main valley (This is also a regular occurrence along the Vaal and Orange Rivers). It is postulated that this shale-type was deposited on the floor of ice dams and is much younger than the Dwyka event, and only slightly

  • lder than the gravel deposits.

Along the Riet River (to the south of Kimberley in the Northern Cape Province) at the Skutsekama Alluvial Gravel Deposit, a similar black shale is developed below the gravel. This Black Shale displays very well developed U shaped worm (Blood Worm like) boroughs (up to >1 meter in depth). No such wormholes are developed during the Dwyka age and small wormholes are first seen in the Ecca Group of the Karoo Sediments, which occurs much higher than the Dwyka Group in the Karoo Sequence. It is believed that very little coarse gravels are preserved below the entry point at Klein Harts village as the catchment area leading to this narrow, gorge like, entry point is substantial and could have formed a very large ice lake. This probably applies to a lesser degree to the Brussels South area downstream of Zamenkomst as the entry point to the north of Zamenkomst drains a much smaller area than the entry point at Klein Harts village.

slide-18
SLIDE 18

HISTORIC AND PRESENT PROJECT

GENERAL GEOLOGY The broad open valley is bounded in the west by sediments and dolomites of the Griqualand West Sequence and in the east by sediments and volcanics of the Ventersdorp Sequence and frequent dolerite dykes and sills are developed in the area.

slide-19
SLIDE 19

HISTORIC AND PRESENT PROJECT

The basement to the gravel varies from place to place and includes:

  • Dolerite.
  • Black Shale (Dwyka?) (most frequent of all basement types).
  • Dwyka Tillite and Shale (found only in portions of the upper

reaches of the Losase Valley).

  • Griqualand West Dolomite and Dolomitic Sediments.
  • Ventersdorp Volcanics and Sediments.

The basement to the gravel becomes more uneven towards the north (Zwartkrans, Gamabot Por 3 and Lockerbie Por 1 area. The top of the gravel is extremely uneven throughout, possibly due to standing wave development during deposition. There are basically three gravel types, namely the older, highly calcretized “Calcrete Gravel” and the younger “Spruit Gravel” and the “Rooikoppie Gravel” which is normally sporadically developed throughout the Project Area. The Calcrete Gravel is developed along elevated terraces and generally has a thin Calcrete cover (0.5 to 6.0 meters). This gravel is very coarse grained, and forms upward coarsening units, which can attain thicknesses of up to 8.0 meters and boulder size of up to 1.5 meters in diameter. The younger, deeper, finer grained and generally thicker “Spruit Gravel” is less calcretized to un-calcretized and is probably derived, mostly from the re-working of the calcrete gravel with the addition of locally derived country rock (Tillite, Lava and Dolomite). Rounded Calcrete Pebbles and Boulders are found in the Spruit Gravel. Cover sediments can be up to 14 meters thick and the gravel attains thickness of up to 11.0 meters. It could however be thicker in places as some deep holes collapsed and were abandoned before the basement was reached.

SECTION SHOWING DISPOSITION OF CALCRETE AND SPRUIT GRAVEL

The classification of the gravels, in approximate order of abundance, are: Quartzite, Lava, Dolomite, Quartz, Banded Chert, Black and Smokey Chert, Agate, minor Banded Iron Formation (including Red Jasper), and Fe-rich Ventersdorp Shale. The Calcrete Gravel is generally very coarse grained and is upward coarsening with an increase in Quartzite Boulders towards the

  • top. In the Calcrete Gravel, the upper coarser grained portion is

also more calcretized than the lower portion, which contains sparse pebbles of green (Dwyka) shale and is greenish in colour. WORK COMPLETED

  • 1. Percussion Drilling

A total of 954 percussion drill holes have been completed at nine (9) localities (farms) and samples have been bagged for the Zwartkrans and Lockerbie drilling. A total of 8265 meters has been drilled to date. Hole diameter was 6.5 inches (165 millimeters) and holes were drilled with a normal percussion rig. Samples were collected with sampling bowls at 0.5 meter intervals and holes flushed with

SLIDE 21

HISTORIC AND PRESENT PROJECT

compressed air after every half meter sample to minimize contamination. Holes were logged in the field and logging transferred to graphic log sheets for record purposes (see appendices for log sheets). Drill spacing varies from 100 to 200 meters between holes and 800 line spacing for initial regional drilling (Zamenkomst only) to 50 by 50 and 50 by 100 meter grids in detail drilled areas (Zamenkomst, Uitenhage, Gamabot, Zwartkrans and Lockerbie. See Fig 1). Gamabot Por 3, Sweet Home Por 3 and Versters Dwaal Por 1 were drilled at a 100 by 500 meter spacing.

  • 2. Trial Mining

Trial mining (bulk sampling) was carried out on four (4) farms. At Zamenkomst 35 pits were treated in the main Area A (See Fig’s 2 and 2a below). And 2 pits in both areas B and C. Due to uncertainty of gravel type and small unrepresentative tonnages these figures were not included in production tonnage and grade calculations. At Gamabot Por 2, 6 pits were treated of which only 3 were included into production tonnage and grade calculations as the remaining 3 pits were in gravel of unknown correlation and/or tonnages too small to be representative (See Fig 3 below). At Gamabot Por 3, 2 pits were treated (See Fig 4 below) and at Zwartkrans Por 0, 5 pits were excavated and treated (See Fig 5 below)

HISTORIC AND PRESENT PROJECT

GRAVEL TONNAGE AND VOLUME CALCULATIONS  Tonnage Calculations: Volumes were calculated from gravel

  • utline interpretation by blocking out the areas based on the

positions of the drill holes and calculating the surface areas of the blocks and multiplying the surface area with the gravel thickness for each drill hole and for each gravel type. Tonnages were then calculated by multiplying the volume calculated by the designated SG. Estimated SG of 2.3 for the Calcrete Gravel and an estimated SG of 2.2 for the Spruit and Rooikoppie Gravels.  Zamenkomst drilled area: Due to drill spacing variations in different areas on this property, holes were blocked out in groups based on the geological interpretation. Volumes and tonnages were calculated as above.  Detail drilled areas (Uitenhage Por 3, Gamabot Por 2, Zwartkrans, Gamabot Por 3, Sweet Home Por 3 and Lockerbie Por 1): Drill holes were blocked out individually using a, half way to the adjoining hole, rule and geological guidance along the sides of the blocked areas. Volumes and tonnages were calculated as above. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS This project is of a high tonnage, low grade, nature but grade is similar to deposits along the Orange River. The deposit has good potential as it yields large diamonds of very good quality and the largest stones recovered to date were 60.21, 24.29, 19.73 and 16.65 carats respectively, and the highest price obtained was US$ 9469.44 per carat (a total of US$ 230.013) for the 24.29 carat stone. The area lends itself to a large-scale mining operation with the minimum size of plant per site being 4 (preferably more) x 16’ pans

running on 3 x 8 hour shifts per day. As the gravel is calcretized and hard, it should be blasted (where possible) or bulldozed (“rip en trap”) with a bulldozer not smaller than a 375 (D 9.5). To increase production the gravel should be screened down to not larger than -40 millimeters prior to entering the treatment plant. This screening will ensure that not less than 100 tons of in situ gravel is treated by each pan per hour. Other than being hard, which represents a diamond liberation problem; there are no other metallurgical problems in treating this gravel. Tables - Figures – Pictures
