Affordable Care Act and Medicaid Expansion in Michigan

  • Medicaid expansion was approved December

30, 2103 in Michigan and was implemented beginning April, 2014.

  • This was expected to cause an increase in

number of Medicaid users in Hillsdale County.

  • But the percentage of respondents on the 2016

survey with Medicaid was 20.6% and is comparable to the 21.4% in 2013.

  • The consequence of the Affordable Care Act on

the CHNA respondents seems to be a decrease in employer coverage and movement to private pay with a government subsidy.
