By the Numbers
Ethics & Values
üTaking more classes at Mission increases your likelihood of
attaining an “acceptable” or above score!
üMore female students received “acceptable” or above
BUT more men achieved “exemplary”
üFirst-generation college students had more
“exemplary” scores than non-first-generation.
Written Communication
üOverall scores for all 4 criteria were very high.
Thesis: 88% “acceptable” or above, 33% “exemplary” Content: 85% “acceptable” or above, 28% “exemplary” Organization: 87% “acceptable” or above, 32% “exemplary” Grammar: 93% “acceptable” or above, 36% “exemplary”
üFemale students did well on thesis and grammar. üMale students did well on organization and grammar
but need to work on thesis.
üBoth genders scored the same on content. üCorrelation between units and achievement is not
as clear as for Ethics and Values.
üThe College has met the benchmark for both ILOs. üHow do we get more students to achieve an “exemplary” score? üWas the assessment too easy? üWhat can the College do as a whole and for specific groups to
improve performance on these two ILOs?
üHow do we address the other aspects of the Written and Oral
Communication ILO?
