  • Villa „Schloss Waldthausen“ was built in 1910 by Freiherr von

Waldthausen, a son of a wealthy industrial family, to impress the German emperor.

  • After World War I and II Schloss Waldthausen was seized by the

French Army. From 1956 to 1978 it was used as a supply depot and drill ground of the Bundeswehr (German Army).

  • In 1978 sold to the city of Mainz and since

1988 used as a conference center by the Sparkassenverband (association of saving banks) of Rhineland-Palatinate.

  • Situated in the Lenneberg Forest:

Largest forest in the region of Rheinhessen. Used by Mainz people for recreation like jogging, cycling or walking.

Celtic villages.

  • Belonging for ~500 years to the Roman empire with the Rhine being

a natural border to the Germanic regions.

  • Nowadays almost every digging unearths Roman things.

and the university for the construction and running of FAIR and PANDA.

  • PRISMA Cluster of Excellence:
  • One of two clusters in Germany for

research of basic questions about the nature of the fundamental matter and their importance for the physics

  • f the Universe.
  • Funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the

State of Rhineland Palatinate Standard Model.

and in the afternoon at 14:00 with coffee breaks at ~10:30 and ~15:30.

  • No poster session (contrary to the preliminary program).
  • Welcome reception:

Today at 19:00 in the main hall.

  • Excursion:

Wednesday at 15:00 (bus departure). Visit of the city of Oppenheim & tour through the vineyards.

  • Social Dinner:

Thursday at 16:00 (bus departure). Guided tour and dinner in Kloster Eberbach in the Rheingau.

  • Lunch usually served at 12:30 for all participants.
  • Dinner served at 19:00 (no later than 20:00!) for participants

which stay at Schloss Waldthausen.

(just across the street): Flammkuchen, pasta, burgers, salads, ..., also good for evening drinks.
