WDT Collision

Repair program is a two year Associate program. These are the general ed. classes that are required.

 This course teaches you proper handling of

shop chemicals, personal safety and maintenance of equipment. You will become familiar with shop areas and what is expected in class.

 You will learn the process for removing and

replacing bolt-on panels of a vehicle and aligning panels to proper adjustments. You will also be instructed in removing and replacing moveable glass from the doors along with the lock and latch assemblies. The class also addresses removing, replacing, and adjusting headlights

 You will learn the proper use of hand and

power tools. You will learn the characteristics of sheet metal repair on collision- and hail-damaged panels, rusted

  • ut panels, fiberglass panels, and the

methods to repair them.

 This course teaches you safety procedures

and familiarization with MIG set-up

  • perations and welding in flat, horizontal,

vertical, and overhead positions. In addition, the use and care of oxyacetylene welding and the cutting torch are covered.

 This course will teach you how to identify

different types of plastic used in the manufacture of automobiles. You will also learn the safe use of airless plastic welders and the use of chemical bonding-repair techniques

 This course will familiarize you with

refinishing materials, equipment, vehicle surface preparation and proper refinishing procedures and techniques. This course will also familiarize you with proper paint booth maintenance procedures.

 This course will teach you to visually identify

and correct paint problems in the finish. Use a logical sequence of operation to repair a finish using a buffer and a sequence of different grit compounds and polishes.

 You will learn how to properly mask vehicles

for primer, color, and topcoat application.

 You will learn how to generate both hand-

written and computer-generated repair estimates.

 learn how to final clean and detail a vehicle

prior to delivery for improved customer

  • satisfaction. You also will learn how to apply

vinyl pinstripes and decals.

 You will use learn procedures and products to

refinish projects as required. This course enables the you to repeatedly practice acquired refinishing techniques and procedures.

 You will demonstrate the correct dent repair

procedures, panel preparation, material mixing, application and spray gun technique to paint a hood with basecoat/clear coat

  • paint. You will then demonstrate the correct

sanding and buffing techniques.

 You will learn to tint for a blendable match

and to blend so there is no noticeable color difference between panels.

 This course will teach you the proper

procedures and techniques to refinish two- tone and tri-coat vehicles.

 This course teaches you the procedures of

removing and installing of large weld-on panels, such as quarter panels, roof panels, door skins and other structural and non- structural components. Safety of working with those units is emphasized.

 You will learn to use “telltale signs” to help

analyze damage and how to use gauges and measuring systems to plan unibody repair.

 WDT has a GARMAT USA down-draft bake

  • booth. With this state-of-the-art paint booth,

we are able to bake the finish after it has been sprayed.

WDT has three

frame racks for you to do your conventional and uni-body frame repair.

 Chief frame rack  Chassis Liner  Gold Medallion  WDT uses two computerized mixing systems  Lesonal  Shop line  5-220 welders  3-110 welders  1-resistant welder  The prep station is used for spot priming

when the paint booth is in use so students can keep working and not have to wait.
