Murals and transmedia art continue to transform downtown…..
Mural at 2 nd and F Street
…..murals and sculptures help give form to the Davis Cultural Arts & Entertainment District.
Parking structure at 1 st & F Street needs upgrading…… Security • Safety • Aesthetics •
Greater use by the public helps ease the parking problem downtown.
But right now, many areas of the garage are dark, dingy and uninviting.
Simple measures taken by the City together with the art community can help turn things around.
I nstall new lighting in underlit areas of the parking structure, add murals.
Move trash bins next to elevator, closer to 1 st Street and…
….build a trash enclosure “dematerialized” as sculpture!
Close-in the dark crawl space on 1 st floor, eliminate a hiding place….
Some of the site planters are crumbling.
Convert them into art benches, places for people to sit.
Existing stairwells are 3D: dark, dank, and daunting!…... Not a pleasant experience for parking patrons.
Solutions: Prime the stairwells, add murals, make them an art experience. Add ceiling exhaust fan at 3 rd floor.
